Another Obsession Looms on the Horizon

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny Depp. Over the last few days I have rediscovered my love of Johnny Depp. I've always adored him as Captain Jack Sparrow (which, by the way, is my current desktop wallpaper) and as Sam in Benny and Joon but lately I find myself rather obsessed with him. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean (Dead Man's Chest) twice this week and on Thursday I bought the first Pirates on DVD (which I should have bought a long time ago) and a poster of Mr. Depp is his Jack Sparrow garb. I hung the poster up on the back of my door and yesterday I sat and stared at it for about ten minutes before I realized it. I totally dug Pirates 2! Was it as good as the first one? No. But I obviously enjoyed it enough to see it twice. My favorite parts all involved the jar of dirt. I think we need a few Jack Sparrow quotes, don't you?

Will Turner: Where's Elizabeth?
Jack Sparrow: She's safe, just like I promised. She's all set to marry Norrington, just like she promised. And you get to die for her, just like you promised. So we're all men of our word really... except for, of course, Elizabeth, who is in fact, a woman.

Jack Sparrow: A wedding? I love weddings. Drinks all around.

Pintel: Your'e supposed to be dead!
Jack Sparrow: Am I not?

Jack Sparrow: You need to find yourself a girl mate. Or perhaps the reason you practice three hours a day is that you already found one, and are otherwise incapable of wooing said strumpet. You're not a eunuch are you?

Will Turner: We're going to steal a ship? That ship?
Jack Sparrow: Commandeer. We're going to commandeer that ship. Nautical term.

On the same day I bought Pirates and my poster I bought one of Bill Maher's DVDs called "I'm Swiss." It's awesome and a half!! Bill Maher should so run for president, even though he specifically said on the DVD that he wouldn't. It's a damn shame, though, 'cause I would have voted for him. Right now I'm watching A Walk to Remember, which is one of those movies that you make fun of but secretly love. Mandy Moore is actually a very good actress. Did I just say that? Someone call Ripley's! Today's been pretty boring so far. Drove up to Tulare to help my mom drop off a van for her work and since then I've just been hanging out.

Can't wait to go to Pismo with my chicas! Only five more days!! It's gonna be an awesome weekend! Hopefully we'll see some hot dudes, hot dudes that are not carrying buckets and wearing floral print shirts. Not much else to say. My YIM is being totally gay! It keeps saying it's logging me in but then the stuff never comes up! Lame and a half! That's all for now!! See you around the Black Pearl. :)

General Update

Not very much to say right now but I'm feeling bored so I thought I'd make a small post, with a survey to make up for the lack of substance. I still have fat face but the right side is on it's way back to normal. Still on antibiotics and Vicodin, which is still a god-send. Watched Bridget Jones Edge of Reason this morning and laughed my butt off when she's "skiing" down the mountain and tries to buy a pregnancy test. My mom is being particularly annoying about my room. She just walked up and down the hall a few times, paused in front of my room, sighed and shut the door with emphasis. "Did you just close my door?" I asked. "Yes," she replied. "Why?" I asked again. "Because I'm tired of looking at your room!" Ah! So I went to inspect it and apart from a few papers on my desk and a pair of shoes in the middle of the room it's really not that messy. It's better than it's been, that's for sure.

I've been reading Fight Club. That's right, it's not just a movie staring the incredibly talented and gorgeous Edward Norton; it's a book too. It's pretty good, very similar to the movie which gives me a craving to watch the movie.

Also, I have noticed a patern in Keira Knightley's recent movies. She is often portraying a character names Elizabeth. Pirates, P&P, and Pirates 2. Coincidence? I think not! I still want to Pirates 2 but I haven't had a chance. I don't want to go until my face is less fat and I can eat popcorn! What's the point of going to a movie if all you can eat is water. Speaking of eating: I am very hungry but there is almost nothing I can eat that doesn't almost kill me! I've already had two yogurts today! What I really want is a sandwich. Roast beef on sour dough bread with cheetos and a pepsi! Yummy!!!

And now for that promised survey!! Enjoy it!
Food, because I am starving!Collapse )

Vicodin Really F***ing Works!!!

I may have some lingering questions about the validity of God and Heaven and all that but I'll tell you something: Vicodin was made by some kind of higher power. It's the only pain medicine I've ever known to work within fifteen minutes of taking it. Advil always claims that it kicks in within twenty minutes but that usually translates into an hour or so. Not Vicodin, I took a pill about twenty minutes ago 'cause my gums were throbbing and know what? Throbbing's gone!! The bottles says you have to be careful because it makes you drowzy but after I took one yesterday I watched a whole movie without nodding off once. It's still probably not the best thing to go out driving right after popping one but it'll probably be okay if I wait an hour or so.

Yesterday wasn't too much fun. Got to the place at about 9:30, waited a while then got called back. When I first got backt there Dr. Northrop (the teeth removing specialist) went over some general stuff with me. He examined my old x-ray for a minute then decided the x-ray was too old so I had to go have another one taken. That seemed to take forever and the whole time we waited he was going over the procedure with me. And let me tell you, I was glad I was going to be knocked out because it did not sound pleasant. Then he said something that almost killed me "We're going to draw some blood." I almost died! But then I found out that they were going to do if after I was asleep. Boy was I relieved! Then they put me on the IV knock out stuff and put the mask on me. After a few minutes I got the feeling I had right before I fainted. The nurse asked me how I was doing and I said I felt funny. The doctor said that was normal. I then proceeded to tell him all about the time I fainted in Mrkaich's class. This is how it went. "I feel like how I felt right before I fainted. Remember that mom? That was funny! (laugh laugh laugh) A guy came in to do a demonstration on giving blood. (laugh laugh laugh) There wasn't even any blood there. (laugh laugh laugh) He was just telling us about it and I fainted! (laugh laugh laugh) Know what Mrkaich wrote in my yearbook mom? You definately left me with a memory. (laugh laugh laugh) The next thing I knew they were waking me up. My legs felt very jello like but I got to ride in a wheel chair, so that was cool. Then we went to the pharmacy to get my Vicodin and another drug to help fight infection. The rest of the day was kind of painful. Eating hurt, talking hurt, opening my mouth hurt. After a while it was so uncomfortable that I had to take a Vicodin and about fifteen minutes later I felt so much better I couldn't believe it. My mouth was numb almost all day yesterday but today I've regained all feeling in my tounge, lips, and gums.

Today I've got a bad case of fat face and talking is still kind of hard. I can eat a lot of soft food but it takes me a long time. It took me ten minutes to eat half a yogurt container! It totally sucks because I'm hungry but eating is such a hassel that I don't have the patience to bother! I do feel better than yesterday so I should only be in pain a few more days. Brushing me teeth is the only part that really causes me a lot of pain but I have to do it to help fight off infections. I also have to rinse my mouth with salt water which sounds like it would be painful but is actually rather soothing!

I guess that's it for now! I know you all enjoyed learning about my sugery! Oooh! Guess what else? I've got stiches! I can feel them! I wonder if I have to go back to have them removed...maybe I should find that out! Until later!! See you around the pharmacy!!

Lots of Things to Say

I actually have a number of things to say in this entry! I'm gonna make a list so I don't leave anything out.

1) My surgery
2) Bill Maher
3) Pride and Prejudice
4) Suicide Blonde
5) ELO

With so much to discuss I'd better get to it!!

1) My surgery: Before you all get worried that I've got cancer or testicles or something, it's oral surgery. I'm having my widsom teeth removed. Exciting, no? NO!!! There's all kinds of stupid rules. I can't eat or drink anything eight hours before my surgery which totally sucks because the first thing I do after I get up is drink a bunch of water to get rid of my morning breath. It also means I don't get to have any breakfast. And since my surgery isn't even until 9:45 am I'm not going to be able to eat anything until, at the very earliest, eleven o'clock. This is the funny part. The fact sheet they sent me says "Have a responsible person stay with you at least 12 hours after you return home." My brother thought this was hysterical so I said to him, " you'll be off school, want to be my guardian?" He responded with "Me? I'd guardian you right into a tree!" I know it doesn't seem that funny but it's the funniest thing he's come up with on his own that didn't involve the f-word or a South Park quote, so it was special.

2) Bill Maher: Oh happy day! I have seen the New Rules DVD and it is awesome! I was just casually stolling through my Hollywood Video last night when I came across it and nearly shrieked with happiness. It is absolutely hysterical! There is something about Bill Maher that reminds me very much of Ryan, which only makes me like him more. The DVD's not very long but the special features are great. During one of his editorials he puts on a giant wolf head in order to represent the wolves view of the distruction of our environment. During this portrayal the camera swivels to reveal Mr. Kevin Costner! That's right! Two awesome dudes, one wearing a giant wolf head, in one awesome place! Makes me really wish we got HBO!

3) Pride and Prejudice: Oh joy upon joy! I have finally finished reading Pride and Prejudice. It was very good. It took me a long time to get throught the beginning but I read the last chunck in less than two days. Go me and my fast reading!! Speaking of P&P, yesterday I bought both Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason as they were on sail. Also this week I watched original P&P starring Colin Firth which is always a treat.

4) I actually heard "Suicide Blonde" on the radio the other day! I was happily surprised because the only old INXS songs I hear on the radio these days are "Need You Tonight" or "What You Need" sometimes "New Sensation" or "The One Thing." Now that I've heard the commentary for Live Baby Live whenever they say "Suicide Blonde" I hear "Soup and Salad Bar!" I was actually singing "Soup and Salad Bar!" Those boys have quite an influence on me :P

5) ELO: Short of Electric Light Orchestra! I've always like them as a band but latley I've found that I like more of their songs than I thought. The other day I was listening to my ELO greatest hits CD and realized that a number of songs on the CD were ones I had heard on the radio, made a note to look it up, then forgot! It was quite ironiclly wonderful!

I guess that's all the topics on my list! If anyone knows a good babysitter, give me a call as I'm gonna need one for tomorrow! (Just kidding, I don't actually need a baby sitter! Small joke!!) I've decided to leave you all with a survey I filled out since I'm probably going to be fairly whacked out tomorrow!! Enjoy and I'll see you around the dentist's chair!

Fun with Random!!Collapse )

Mistress of the Lair

Happy Monday all my adoring fans! How have you all been? I haven't been too bad myself. My mom is off in Bakersfield (or I as I like to call it, Fresno Light) for the next two days on a work assignment so I am a mistress of the lair, master of my domain. It's not as exciting as you might think, what it mainly means is that I'm in charge of all the laundry, dishes, shopping, not to mention dragging my brother to all of his different functions. This morning has been fairly uneventful though, took my dad to work and my brother to school. Came home and did some of my dad's paperwork then went to the post office and bank, as I do every Monday. I'm also watching the original Pride and Prejudice starring the incredibly goreous Colin Firth! Darcy may have been a bit of an a-hole but he was certainly a hot a-hole! I finished the first disk but I'm waiting until later to watch the second part.

As today is the start of a new week I'll enlighten you all as to the details of my weekend. Friday was super fun! Lisha, Nette, and I returned to Roeding Park for another installment of "Story to Story", the official INXS biography! I learned A LOT!! I lot of things I could have lived without knowing but it was a real pleasure for me to learn about the other guys. I already knew a lot about Michael so getting an inside look into the other guy's lives was a real treat. I especially enjoyed learning about the time when Garry had to cross a busy street with nothing but a surfboard for cover...le swoon! Saturday was boring. Sunday was another INXS day. We met at Nette's to watch Live Baby Live with band comentary and to finish the last chapter of our book. It was a very emotional last chapter and when I read about Kirk's dream I felt my voice crack and the next thing I new tears where streaming. Stuff like that always gets to me. He dreamed that Michael was an owl and told Kirk that he was finally free. Thinking about it now still makes me sad. It feels weird to be all done with the book after only three reading sessions. It seems like just yesterday we were all excited to be buying it!

You know what's annoying? When you cry at stupid movies. Like, the movie was so awful but you find yourself crying anyway. For example: I was watching Riding in Cars with Boys the other day and that movie is truly awful, but at the end when Drew Barrymore's character has that heart-fealt moment with her father I start balling like there's no tomorrow! And by then you're all angry because you just a) sat through a really stupid movie and b) cried about it, so they're like tears of anger. I was thinking about that yesterday and I came up with a list of the five dumbest movies ever that still managed to make me cry.

1) Sweet November: Keanu can't act anyway and the plot was so predictable but when the girl in the movie dies and Keanu is all upset I welled up.
2) Riding in Cars with Boys: Drew Barrymore at her worst, maybe that's why I was crying!
3) For Love of the Game: Another Kevin Costner baseball movie that was so incredibly crappy I couldn't quite get my head around it but at the end when he meets her at the airoport with that speech I got misty. Damn Kevin Costner!
4)City of Angels: As much as I love Nicolas Cage that movie had one of the dumbest plots ever: angel falls in love with human and has to make himelf a human. But the girl dies. Stupidly ironic, no? And yet, I sat there sobbing!
5)Glitter: Whoever said Mariah Carrey should be in a movie was on crack? And why did I cry about it? Who f***ing knows, I'm worried I have a chemical imbalance!

Not too many plans for today. Colette and I are supposed to see Pirates but I can't quite get a hold of her so we'll just see. I'm still working on my INXS collage. I've got all the pictures I'm going to use I just have to find some creative way to arrange them with a few song lyrics sewn in for effect. With my luck I'll have to make yet another trip to Sam's Club, which I hate! Although, there is one small bright spot in going to Sam's Club: Ronnie! Ronnie is a blonde-haired, blue-eyed cashier with a cute smile and an awesome butt! I couldn't help but look when he bent over to scan my ding dongs (and God how I wish that were a euphamism)! The best part about it is they have to use your name when they thank you, so when he hands me my receipt he says, "Thank you...Jessica!" Le sigh!! I go through his line as often as I can except for when his line is the longest!

OOOH BOY!! Tonight is the premier of I Love the '70s Volume Two on VH1! I'm totally stoked! I remember when they first premiered I Love the '80s. I was just getting into the '80s so it was seriously the best thing ever!! Brad Sherwood from Whose Line is going to be on the new I Love the '70s so I'm excited about that and sometimes they get Colin or Greg! PLUS...Michael Ian Black, one of my absolute favorite dudes! He's hilarious in an off-beat way and he has such a cute face that I always want to give him a really big hug! I'm going to try and find my tape with the original I Love the '70s on it so I can brush up! That's it for now! See you around the disco ball!!

Fakey Update

Okay, so it's not a real update but it is a bunch of Frasier quotes! What could be more than that? OH! Before I forget! I was watching Dawson's Creek last week (I know, all the best stories start that way) and the "gang" were at some big beach party and Joey was getting all liquored up and her inner slut was coming out. So I'm watching this for a minute or so when I realized that I recognized the song in the background. Would you like to know what it was? It was "Elegantly Wasted" by the one, the only INXS!! I was so excited and turned it up so I could hear the chorus, even though that meant the ididotic peoeple on the show were twice as loud. Ah well. On another side note: I bought People Magazine's "Celebrate the '90s" edition and in the back where they listed the people who had died during the '90s I saw Michael Hutchence's picture! Thanks People for recognizing an icon in music!!

Now for the quotes!

Niles: Her lips were saying "no," but her eyes were saying, "read my lips."

Frasier: I do not have a fat face.
Niles: Oh, please. I keep wondering how long you're going to store those nuts for winter.

Frasier: Look, frankly, I wish you'd start seeing someone about this bug phobia of yours.
Niles: It is not a phobia. I have a healthy fear of our natural predators. It's us versus them and frankly I'm starting to wonder just whose side you're on.

Niles: Why didn't you hold the elevator? Didn't you hear me shouting?
Frasier: That was you? Oh, I'm sorry, Niles. I was afraid you were trying to get a picture of my butt.
Niles: How exciting to be present at the birth of a new phobia.

Martin: Oh great, my kids are having plastic surgery. That's a nice age to get to.

Daphne: Beautiful job carving that turkey, Dr. Crane.
Niles: Well, I picked up a thing or two in medical school. In case you're wondering, this bird appears to have died of a massive head trauma.

Niles: I've always liked the notion of meeting the great figures of history. But then I think, what if it's like high school and all the really cool dead people don't want to hang out with me?

Niles: Have you noticed there are fewer hazlenuts in these biscotti?
Frasier: So I'm not crazy.
Niles: And yet they've gone up twenty-five cents.
Frasier: Oh, fewer nuts, more money - something I've been aspiring to for my entire professional life!

Niles: Look, I know I don't have your total support in this, but... how shall I put this?
Frasier: You don't care?
Niles: If you could work the phrase "rat's ass" into there, you'd have it.

Frasier: You feel like a new man, don't you?
Niles: I feel like a new woman, and thank God I remembered to pack one!

Frasier: Well, Niles, if you want my advice...
Niles: Oh, you know, you really need to stop saying that.

Niles: You know, it requires a lot of talent. You have to have timing and balance, the ability to strike and instantly retreat.
Martin: So you kick them and then run away?
Niles: Yes. My instructor says I'm a natural.

Niles: I'll dispense with the usual adolescent teasing and come straight to the point: who was that babe-o-rama?
Frasier: Niles, please don't try to be hip. You remind me of Bob Hope when he dresses up as the Fonz.

Frasier: Niles, is there a light bulb over my head?
Niles: You have an idea?
Frasier: No, I'm asking if there's actually a light bulb over my head.

Stir Crazy June

Bleg!! I have been feeling slightly off-beat and crazy lately! I seem to be going through a stir-crazy faze and it is more than slightly sucky! I've been trying to keep myself busy by applying for jobs but you start to get discouraged after a million and one apps and absolutely no responses! I don't have much work experience but you figure one place out of a million would be willing to train someone! I know what's really driving me crazy! Hanging around the house with my mom and brother all day! My mom seems stuck in some kind of bad mood cycle and my brother is irritating all year long! I try to get out of the house but I've seen everything there is to see and done everything there is to do! I've come to a conclusion about Fresno: it's really a small hick town it just covers a lot of ground. Kind of depressing when you think about it! Other than extreme boredom not much is going on with me. Bought Keane's new CD today and I'm optimistic it will be a good one as I've already heard one song off it and I was very impressed.

Sunday was a fun day! My dad, brother, and I wen to San Francisco to visit my grandpa for father's day. We spend most of the day driving up and back but our visits our always nice and SF is such a beautiful city. You know how native New Yorkers feel like they're in love with the city? Well that's how I feel about SF. I'm not a native of the city but whenever I go there I feel as if I belong there, I never really feel that way about Fresno. I'm thinking about asking my parents if I can spend some time up there over the summer. Stay with my grandpa and really get to know the city. I'm always so inspired by it and I feel motivated to write! My grandpa's condo has the most gorgeous view of San Francisco Bay and just looking at it makes me feel invigorated! Not to mention the abundance of cute dudes just walking around! Also on Sunday I bought the new INXS album! It's pretty good! I still like original INXS better but Hot Girls has been stuck in my head and the only way to get it out was to listen to it a bunch of times!

I'm into a new TV show for the summer. It's called Saved and it's on TNT. It stars the very cute Tom Everett Scott as an ambulance driver and is proving to be very interesting. I have to watch something on Monday nights now that How I Met Your Mother is on re-runs! I haven't been watching the HOUSE re-runs too much because my mom can barely tolerate it during the regular season. Although I think she's starting to warm up to it, at the end of every episode she'll ask me what went on, what happened, or what the guy had! She finds House annoying but I think she might be a Wilson fan! Woo hoo! Go Wilson!! I'm also re-discovering my love for Frasier! They had the first season super cheap at Barnes and Noble so I bought that too! I'm not so much a fan of Frasier as I am a fan of Niles and Martin! Either way it's a funny show and anything Christopher Lloyd had a hand in has to be worth my time!!

I've been having some weird dreams lately! I can't remember them very well but I know they're weird. I have a slight memory of them and what I can recall is always extremely odd. I would love to keep a dream journal and have them interpreted but I can never remember them and the last thing you want to do right after you wake up is write a detailed descprition of a dream you only kind of remember. I guess that's it for now! Not too much to report from the home front! I'll see y'all when I see you!! Much love!

I Can't Belive It!!!!!

So, I arrived home Sunday night (or was in early Monday morning?) sun-burnt, deaf, hoarse, tired, sore and you know what? IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Sunday was, seriously, the best day of my whole life! Better than when I saw Ryan and we all know how much I love Ryan! Shall I start from the beginning? I think so, the beginning is always a great place to start!

Can YOU believe it?Collapse )

Boredom mounts as the night stretches on...

So, yeah! I'm pretty bored! I was watching Tin Cup (a hilarious movie starring the incredibly talented and good-looking Kevin Costner) but she keeps getting phone calls so then she has to put the movie on pause. It's not like I haven't seen it before, 'cause I have, it's just the sheer frustration of all this stop and go junk! I guess I could do my chores but who wants to willingly do that? While chores are annoying as heck I'll say this for them: it's something to do to pass the time. Like if you're waiting for the time to pass before a date or a tv show, it's an excellent way to speed up the wait! I mean, shoot! It takes me almost half an hour to clean the bathroom! Man, I'm so bored I'm considering cleaning something? Help me Rhonda!

Okay, in honor of the INXS concert tomorrow (yippee): the top ten songs I really hope they play!!!!

1) Never Tear Us Apart
2) Don't Change
3) New Sensation
4) This Time
5) Just Keep Walking
6) Need You Tonight
7) Mediate
8) One Thing
9) Afterglow
10) Devil Inside

I've been assured by Nette that they'll play Don't Change but I put it on my list just in case! I won't bore you with the whole "I'm So Excited" speech but I will say this: I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woop woop and let's go down to disco!!!

A few quotes from Tim Cup to finish off the entry.

Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy: Sex and golf are the two things you can enjoy even if you're not good at them.

Dr. Molly Griswold: There's no such thing as semi-platonic.
Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy: Well there ought to be.

Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy: Does my inner child need a spanking?

Romeo: Am I special?
Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy: Well, if you can remove the sexual overtones and add a golf theme, then Romeo, I am your Juliet.

Romeo: You can't ask for advice about the woman you're trying to hose FROM the woman you're trying to hose!
Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy: Why not?
